17 Jun 2009Hello. You’ve reached my blog. As you can tell, I have not yet populated this place of conversation. I will, of course, be posting comments, ideas, themes very soon. However, since the larger objective here is to expand the ‘discussion’ please feel free to start commenting on my books, art history, culture, media, herbalism, travel, literature, history, etc. I came to technology a little late in the game but now I realize the importance of engaging with my audience and connecting people through dialogue.
This is the forum that continues long after the page has closed. Welcome.

... to my open forum. Although I will be posting my own ideas, thoughts, and experiences the primary aim of this blog is to broaden the discussion long after the last page has been turned. Please feel free to comment on my books, art history, culture, media, herbalism, travel, literature, history, etc. Engaging with my audience and connecting people through dialogue is important to me, so don't be shy.

I’ve read all Sarah Dunant’s books, all those which were in print and I was able to get my hands on. There are still several, of which she is a c0-author, that I have never been able to obtain. I guess they are out of print.
My two favorite writers serveal years ago, were Sarah Dunant and P.D. James, both of whom I felt wrote beautifully, albeit in differnt styles and on differnt subjects.
Unfortunately, once you settle on your “favorite authors,” you will quickly become an impoverished reader if you do not start “fishing” for other authors to read.
I have weaned myself off these authors exclusively, otherwise I would not be reading anymore. I was SO excited to discover that Ms. Dunant would be publishing a new book _”Sacred Hearts” in late July. I discovered this in early June and put in an early order so I could receive the book as soon as it was available to the public.

Sarah, your writing style is phenomenal. I am in the middle of Sacred Hearts and loving it! I look forward to meeting you tomorrow night in Atlanta. You met my sister-in-law in San Francisco last Thursday. She’s the woman who creates history kits, and I’m the woman working on a novel set partially in Italy from the Inquisition through the 1800’s. I’m really looking forward to hearing what you have to say about your research.

I just finished The Birth of Venus. First book I have read by you. You are a wonderful writer. I have been elevated. Thank you for this glimpse into the lives who walked beside my favorite painters. I have often thought -if I could do anything, wildest wish kind of dreaming, I would choose to go back to Michelangelo’s time and meet him. When reading your book

….I felt as though I had been given the gift to meet them, and I can pretend, that I, too, can paint beside a master. I am a professional fine artist painting in the classical style and my favorite painters are Raphael, DaVinci, Michelangelo, and Bougereau.

Thank you for your marvellous books. What pleasure! Thank you for your commitment to giving your readers so much insight into history and especially what it has meant for women, all wrapped up in a fabulous story. I am so happy to see a gifted artist succeed. Please keep writing!
Re. the next edition, for the editors:
(1) page 202: par. 3: lines 5/6: “Once she has … here.” There seems to be a word missing before ” a plan”.
(2) page 414: par. 4: last sentence: “Where before she … now she LAYS curled…”
